What people say
As someone who struggles with their mental health I felt as if I have something in common with Alyssa Harmon, I have constantly felt as if my mental health drowns me or that I cannot stay afloat with the weight of what I feel at times. These poems explained perfectly how I feel and have felt for years. I felt as if some of my thoughts were put into words I have been struggling to find.

Second time reading her book and I still like her work. This time she's talking about mental health, which is mostly difficult to talk about. But she succeeded and everything resonated with me. This book can't replace therapy, but I think it might help some people who are struggling with mental issues.

healing poetry
The mesmerizing poetry in “treading water,” reveals the raw and intricate landscape of mental health, with the tides of emotion ebbing and flowing throughout the poems. Alyssa Harmon’s second poetry book is divided into four sections that take you through the challenging journey of coping with mental illness. This poetry book is more than a collection of poems; it’s a lifeline for anyone navigating feelings of loneliness, anxiety, depression, and more.
Let this poetry book be the island that gives you a break from treading water.

What people say
Rarely do I come across poems that capture my own experience with mental illness, and this work does that so well. I particularly resonated with 'Birthstone'. I think this work will really make a lot of people feel seen and heard.

This is a really powerful collection of poems about mental health! I think this must be very relatable to people with mental health problems (it certainly was to me). It flows beautifully, and I love the author's writing style.
